1 January 2008 - 19:11Finally a movie worth seeing…

Lisa and I went to see the movie this past Thursday (21-Feb).  One word – terrific!  Whether you are a repeat marathoner (EY, DT, etc) or are considering running your first this movie will touch a nerve.

Once you cross the finish line of your first marathon all goals, no matter how big, will appear reachable.

1 January 2008 - 19:07Limit free markets and see what happens…

Its impossible to turn on the news without someone claiming that health-care in Canada is better and cheaper.  Oh really?

This is a great first-hand article on Canadian health-care.  I recommend reading it but here are a few highlights.

  • according to the World Health Organization Canadians, for the price they pay, now have the worst health care system in the world
  • In British Columbia, all elective operating rooms shut down at 3 p.m.
  • A patient will usually wait for nine to 12 months for a smaller procedure such as carpal tunnel surgery or a hernia repair, and 14 to 18 months for a major procedure such as a total joint replacement or cardiac valve replacement
  • The government limits how many patients each doctor can see and bill for each day. If you exceed the government’s quota, you simply won’t get paid for the additional work.

1 January 2008 - 16:39Crazy for IKEA?

I am.  For me, visiting an Ikeastore is similar to a trip to Barnes and Noble.  I always leave with more ideas than I entered with.  Its like a brainstorm factory.   Unfortunately since the nearest Ikea store is over 300 miles away in Atlanta I don’t get to visit very often.

For you Ikea fans out there, here are a few great websites to check out:
